SLR.. the only one of 86 companies in its sector that reached a 52 week high on Friday. It was already a good earnings play and it is conceivable that it will no longer exhibit "anticipatory upswing" thorugh its earning date. On the other hand, this stock is such a great performer that I would not discount it and would wait for an inevitable pullback (especially if the report is good)to enter this stock even 1 week AFTER earnings come out.

Note that YUM,ANF and TJX went through their retreat as well and are coming back for renewed gains. Unlike a pure momentum driven play, whose momentum can be the result of a dead cat bounce strategies (risky) or some technical breakout removed from its fundamental rank, an earnings plays is more of a 'pulsating' stock with a vigor borne of its fundamental rank (a combination of profitability, valuation, performance, its balance sheet AND technicals).. its just a better all around play.
