Sunday New York Times front page article on Lysteria bacteria being found in hotdogs and cold cuts(processed meat). This with the Ecoli problem is only increasing awareness of the problem with meat. I strongly contend that GBUR will do well as we(the consumers) are hit more and more with these health problems from meat. I am not against meat-I had a hamburger a couple hours ago-although I limit my intake.
As an analogy - publically held Pre-Paid Legal was going nowhere, bumpin' around $2-$4 a share, until the Rodney King and O.J. trials hit the media. It then proceeded to go as high as $44 a share. People ,via this media exposure on these trials, are now much more aware as to how costly and how difficult the legal system can be.
Going to Gardenburgers, eventually consumers-lets think of mothers with young children-are going to not want to feed their kids or themselves baloney, fast food hamburgers and other meats as readily as before because of these media stories on unsafe meat products. With Monica by the wayside , you just may see more stories on this problem-and it is a problem.
Just my opinion,of course.
Also GBUR just announced a new soy based burger with flax seed(good fat) and some other healthy item in it. This burger will come two to a package and sell at a premium price( I beleive $3.20 or thereabouts).I will be eating it. I already add flax seeds to my cereal every morning and I eat Gardenburgers(usually hamburger style) about every other day too. When GBUR announces their financing agreement which I assume will be soon-the shorts will have to cover. The item sells very well here in grocery stores with the hamburger style and original Gardenburger style sold out some of the time. The other veggie burger products are NEVER sold out.
