Denni & Intel Investors - New Intel-Based PCs for NEC/Packard Bell

New Celeron, Pentium II and Pentium III based PCs, starting at $800, are being announced next week by NEC Packard Bell.

Could the choice of Intel Inside have anything to do with the upcoming LOSS to be reported by AMD and the recent LOSS (and upcoming next quarter loss) reported by NSM ?

I'll bet it does !

NEC plans PC makeover By John G. Spooner

NEC Computer Systems Division is planning a desktop makeover.

On Monday, the Mountain View, Calif., arm of Packard Bell NEC plans to launch two PC lines under its PowerMate brand name.

NEC (Nasdaq:NIPNY) will offer three chassis in the new PowerMate ES 5200 line, all based on an NLX motherboard. A single motherboard design means that regardless of their choice of processor speed, hard drive size or chassis, IT managers will only need to maintain a single software image, making it easier to deploy and manage their PCs, NEC officials said.

ES 5200 models will start at about $850 when configured with an Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC) Celeron processor. With Pentium II and Pentium III chips, prices will range up to about $2,000, NEC officials said.

NEC's Direction desktops, sold primarily through the direct channel, will be replaced Monday with a new line, called the PowerMate VT 300 The VT 300 line, which utilizes a microtower form factor, will start at about $800 and offer Intel's Celeron processors. Higher-end models will be priced at approximately $1,500 with a Pentium II or Pentium III processor.

NEC can be reached at www.nec-computers.com.
