The situation in Zaire appears to be getting more volatile by the day. The rebel advance continues in eastern Zaire. Evidently there have been defections by army officers to the rebel ranks. Support is growing for the opposition's call to negotiate with the rebels ... who are calling for Mobutus ouster. The uprising in eastern Zaire threatens the stability of the entire nation. 1000 km from the fighting may not be far enough away for ILP's tailings pile. Patrick
