Crazy,
Funny that you bring up Europe. Most people in IT knows how big Ireland is in technology. They offer income tax breaks to people who have technology backgrounds and are luring a lot of companies over there with tax incentives, etc. Ireland is treating high-tech the way some countries treat the Arts. And it's working.
Some key facts: • A young, skilled, well-educated workforce, with abundant technological and business skills • A 10% corporate tax rate until 2010 (2005 for financial services), the lowest in Europe • A well-developed industrial and business infrastructure • An excellent and competitively-priced telecommunications system • Quick and duty-free access to EU markets of 370 million people • A stable political and economic environment • 27% of their population is in the 25-44 age bracket • 40% (yes, 40%) of their exports is in Electronics and Software Source: irelandnow.com
The following site is an excellent source for DD with regards to BII's move to Europe, and an opening of an office in Dublin: infosocomm.ie
I cannot stress enough how important a move to Europe, especially Ireland, might prove to be. I strongly suggest everybody spend an hour surfing through the above site. It will astound you. If you are in IT at all, you will be even more impressed.
IMO, Bid.Com isn't missing a beat.
Denise.
PS. As a Canadian, I sure wish my dear country would make some moves like this. |
