No; I am not an Evangelical or a Fundamentalist; though currently I am giving them a fair amount of my time to make there points about how they view things. I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with their viewpoints, but I like some of their message. I like that they take the Bible serious and seem to really want to find out what it says at times. At other times; they seem to get caught up in reading things into the scripture that fit their views; and I have a problem with that. Take for example the predestination scripture. The church elder that is in my accountability/pray group had an explaination for this that was totally unsatisfying to me. It was as if he just found it confounding and so made up something that resolved it for him. A couple of other devout fundamentalists in the group weren't satisfied with how he viewed it either. The bottom line; none of them could resolve it and so they just didn't want to ponder it. One of them said; "Why are we spending time on this" and off we went to other parts of the Bible. This is the problem; any troubling areas are just skipped over and then the parts that are easier are pushed with fury. I personally find the troubling areas important areas to understand and they should be left unanswered, but not ignored. They are things to ponder and wonder about.
