The Fremont TCI has gone quiet about a month before they lunched a new campaign. For the last 2 weeks, they first mass mail the postcard to every houses, second they started to cold call every households. My gut feeling is that they carefully planned out the marketing to avoid to overburden their network. They may want to sync up their marketing effort with their network upgrading schedule. To them, getting the word out is easy. But crashing their network would be a serious mistake they may be trying to avoid.

I remember seeing somewhere that TCI's strategy is to build out the base in the suburban areas(South and North Bay) before they go into San Francisco. They wanted to make sure that everything works well before they expand further.
I feel this is a good and careful approach. Look at what is happening to AT&T World Net when too many people are signing up.

The access speed in Fremont is fast to say the least. I am enjoying the multimedia experience I never thought would be possible. I am watching the streaming video from China on my @Home with good audio and acceptable video although a little jumpy sometimes. Downloading MP3 files are fast and I already turned my PC into a JukeBox with 100 free songs downloaded. It's a total different experience...
