CIENA Corporation (NASDAQ:CIEN) today announced today announced The CIENA LightWorks Initiative, a plan to change the fundamental economics of service provider networks. CIENA launched this effort with agreements to acquire Lightera and Omnia, both privately held, in two separate transactions valued collectively at approximately $980 million.
