John: I don't mind a guy not making money, but what irritates about Cramer is his formal stance that he does not recommend particular stocks, he says, he just tells ignorant investors how the investment game works. Even if this claim were true, it would imply that he is qualified to do this because of his success as a trader. He did not voluntarily disclose that measured by the S&P 500 and normal standards in the industry he is probably not as good as the amateurs he is advising. Even his statement today is designed to bolster the perception that he is a successful trader.

His claim is also disingenous because he knows perfectly well that by building up a "persona" as a savvy investor in the media, it is likely that he will influence by his mention of particular stocks or sectors. He has been investigated by the SEC several times and is clever enough to put out the kind of statements he made today, to cover his arse.
