In 2000, the Canal will be under complete Panamanian control. Some doomsayers claim that Panama will not be able to handle the responsibility. What they do not realize is that at this time, the Canal is already 90% controlled by Panama. The event in 2000 will be the return of the last last 10%.

In terms of Panama generally, there are beaches on the Caribbean side and the Pacific side. Lots of mountains. Panama City is about as cosmopolitan as any other city in the world.
