I'm not in any YR2000 Stocks at the present but the February 10, 1997 issue of InformationWeek Cover article states that the Government has earmarked 2.3 Billion dollars to fund this work. Federal Action Plan Phase Description Target Date Assessment Inventorying systems Mar 1997 Renovation Making needed changes to code Dec 1998 Validation Testing the changed systems Jan 1999 Implementation Implementing and testing Nov 1999 government wide systems There was also an article on Cal States plans for Yr2000 problem.
