Gottfreid, In reading the write up on the Orb drive I noted that they advise that users set the drive to do a write and VERIFY pass. This is very unusual in disk products, isn't it? I'd heard early on that it was designed for more multimedia type applications and therefore didn't have the bit error rate that you would normally expect,or need, for a storage product.

Seems that their 10*12 error rate must rely on a write followed by a verify (read) pass. Apparently the system isn't robust enough to reliably write.
