I lived in the UK for 18 months and unfortunately didn't get to spend much time in Wales --- only two brief trips. It's a beautiful country and any distrust of outsiders has been honestly earned. On the other hand, I think Alan's ancestry has taught him to win no matter where he is. Thank God for new blood!
