When using an Orb for data storage they suggest that you turn on write verify, which writes data and then does a second pass to read the data ensuring that it made it to disk OK. All other disk devices simply write the data and there error rate specs are based only a write pass. The only time a verify pass is done is after a format to detect bad regions. Even floppies operate this way.

The net is that though they spec fast transfer rates that number is based on no verify pass. When they spec their error rate number it is based on a verify pass. A little gamesmenship with the specs. IN general I think they are a bit squemish about the integrity of their write channel and or media.
