I am very familiar with all these technologies and have found that independent of their costs, both plastic and copper cables are bandwidth limited. This means that installing plastic or copper cables today is only a short term solution. Fiber optic cable provides bandwidth for high speed data transmission well into the foreseeable future. I have also found that when newer technologies have tried to emerge the fiber optic technology costs are always skewed. Implememting a fiber installation is cheaper than many like to believe.

Plastic technology has been around for a long time, but recently the only thing new is their marketing strategy.
