MB,

You are neglecting DELL's stated objective to grow revenues.
DELL stated that they came up short because they had not been aggressive enough on corporate pricing which has a 90 day order cycle. They began to fix this (pricing) sometime in NOV-DEC and should see the effects this quarter.

DELL was also probably affected to some extent by some customers putting off purchases until the PIII became ready in mid February.

CPQ went on multiple shifts and overtime as soon as the PIII became available(Rudedog).

IMO you are dead wrong if you think that DELL is getting clocked this quarter. In fact, DELL may show considerable top line growth this quarter like it did last year when everyone feared a slowdown in PC unit sales.

DELL's growth rate in the consumer and small business market is much higher than GTW. DELL is selling to the VAR's that service small business. This is where CPQ is vulnerable.
