From Bull Market Report:

$$$$$ E*TRADE STARTS $150 MILLION VENTURE CAPITAL FUND

E-Trade (EGRP) said it will form a $150 million "internal" venture fund to
capitalize on the explosive demand for online investing. The electronic
brokerage, which allows investors to trade stocks and mutual funds and
offers real-time stock quotes and market analysis, said the fund would fuel
expansion into new areas and in technology.

"The demand for increasingly sophisticated online financial services tools
is driving the development of new means for empowering individual investors
to manage their finances online," said E*Trade Chief Executive Christos
Cotsakos.

The average trading volume online is expected to rise by at least 25 percent
in the first quarter to a record 425,000 trades a day.

COMMENT: There seems to be some big news from this company every week or
so. This is no exception. Maybe its taking a few cues from David
Wetherell of CMGI !
