The attached news is indicative of the fiber industry in general, for now at least. All fiber companies are getting attention right now and I believe we're with one of the BEST! Lets ride this one to the top! HARMONIC LIGHTWAVES INC. gapped up and leapt 4 1/8 to 23 5/8 on 15 times its normal trade. The developer of fiber-optic transmission systems said fourth-quarter earnings surged 91% from a strong year-ago quarter to 21 cents a share - nine more than forecast - on 83% higher sales. The company's gaining share in a hot market, said Tim Savageaux, an analyst with Robertson Stephens. Cable TV companies are converting to fiber optic, not only to offer more reliable service but to expand services as well. That includes providing more channels and moving into data and voice transmission. The stock's more than doubled since last January.
