It isn't much of a thread if it is one person talking to himself. (Me)

I'm currently trying to get a copy of this paper and others:

L. Allen, M. W. Beijersbergen, R. J. C. Spreeuw, and J. P. Woerdman, "Orbital angular-momentum of light and the transformation of Laguerre-Gaussian laser mode," Phys. Rev. A 45, 8185-8189 (1992).

OSJ doesn't have it on file so I may have to track over to LeConte Hall and Xerox a copy from the stacks. Don't you just love the net. At the end of the net rainbow there isn't any information, but there is an offer to buy a book that may or may not have what you are looking for. You do this because so many are so interested in what the smartest guys know what can't work. That alone is positive evidence.

I can't get into what everyone wants, the crystal diode refractive modulation of RF to photonic beam, until I'm suitably armed and ward off the evil spirits. Condensed matter physics is a ding-an-sich so I have to go back and learn yet another sub-field of physics. Now if I just could get a better handle on optical vortices...
