Mon 15 Mar 99 News Release
Ms. Nancy McLeod reports
Air Liquide Canada Inc. has subscribed to the eDispatch.com wireless
Internet dispatch service to automate the dispatch and operations
management of its delivery fleet in Vancouver.
The eDispatch.com service automates the dispatching and tracking of
deliveries using a wireless two-way data smart phone, Internet, and
wireless data network. Air Liquide has deployed eDispatch.com to streamline
field service delivery and improve overall customer service - drivers
closest to the customer are dispatched, and increased accuracy of delivery
times are now available.
Customers place orders over the phone at Air Liquide, which are entered
into a desktop computer by call takers. The orders are then sent over the
Internet to be processed by the eDispatch.com system. Drivers receive
customer information on the phone's screen and can report back on order
status by entering updates by way of the phone's keypad. In addition to
order tracking, the phones also enable drivers to call customers for
directions, estimated arrival times, and even parking instructions.
Air Liquide is an international group specialized in industrial and medical
gases and related services. Focused on this core business, it has served
over one million customers all over the world and had annual sales of
6.7-billion (U.S.). Founded in 1902, Air Liquide operates in 60 countries
through 125 subsidiaries and employs 27,600 people. It currently combines
the resources and expertise of a global group with a very strong local
presence.
