Yooohooo! Looks like my elementary question has been overlooked.... To repeat, I'm not clear on X4, Market Value of Equity / Book Value of Liabilities. Everything else in the Altman formula is straight forward, but what's "Market Value of Equity"? I gather from the discussion that it's not what I initially thought, i.e. market cap (or some modification thereon like enterprise value). Come on, throw me a bone! What's "Market Value of Equity"?
