Mulling over my rollout spread today:
Aside from the education (now I know what it is)...
I exchanged a sure gain (assuming NITE closes Friday above 50, which it will) of $2625
for a maybe gain of $4125 next month minus about $150 extra commissions.
Or the chance (if the shares are not taken away in April ) to hold NITE longer for a maybe larger gain.
So was it worth it?
I'm not sure (aside from the education of course.)

This is what I did:
I didnt like how NITE was performing: it seemed to be underperforming the brokerage sector. So I wrote covered calls for March at 50 giving myself about a 20% gain for six weeks. Then NITE began to perform like the other brokerage firms and even made up ground. So I bought those calls back, at a loss of a few cents, and sold April 60 to give me a chance to have the shares called away $10 higher (but not making anything on the calls, essentially ending up a couple of hundred dollars poorer.)
This is a rollout spread and the evening opionions of it are at the beginning of this post.
