OFF TOPIC -- re displaying charts.
In the case of the message you referenced, the chart was from an *existing* Web site. It's at www.bigcharts.com/intchart etc.
(Whenever I lift one of their excellent charts into a message, I try to remember to give them credit ... failed to do so in this case.)
Mechanically, whilst looking at the bigcharts site, I put the arrow over the chart, and right-click (Win 3.1). One of the options is "Copy Image Location". By selecting that option, the URL of that chart, alone, is placed in the "notebook", as if I had "cut" it. Then when composing a message here on SI, when I get to the right place in the message, I simply "paste" or Shift-Ins from the notebook and the URL drops right in.
With many other sites, I could do this just as easily by lifting from the "location" slot at the top of the browser, but for some reason this doesn't work well with the bigcharts site. I dunno why.
On a broader note, I think that SI has a protocol that any expression which begins with "http" will be shown as if it were an effective hotlink when the message appears on the board. So one *could* just type the whole URL and get this to work.
Hope this helps.
