Dear tech:Bottom line legally is that MSFT has done alright and the states+DOJ have proven no harm to the consumer. The Oscars for best performances wil definitely be awarded to Boise but the case has no real merit. What the trial has succeeded in doing is revealing some dead wood at MSFT in high places. This is evidenced by how poorly prepared they were for challenges to their testimony. I guess these guys are all used to someone sucking up to them.

In sum therefore I agree that MSFT should not negotiate the case has not been proven albeit some of their officers came off badly in court. Additionally given the AOL merger and the rising star of Linux where is the case for harm to competitors. The media (pinkos in general) would like to see it go against MSFT but the courts will not see it that way. I even think Jackson may have trouble finding a way to justify a negative decision vs. MSFT that will stand up under appeal - in fact he may be the one urging settlement here.
