Daniel,

I am with you on this one. Having had a
security clearance myself at one time, I
can tell you that there just is not any
credible link between the Whitehouse and
Chinese espionage. I do remember that
during the briefings we had back in the
late 1980's, the Dept. of Industrial Security
said that the Chinese were actually the
most active country in trying to penetrate
defense contractors, not the Soviets as one
might think. Probably, this is because the
Russians had very high quality weapons labs
themselves at the time and really did not
need to steal technology.

The sad fact of the matter is that the cat
came out of the bag and nobody can put the
nuclear genie back in the bottle. Everyone
wants these weapons. Could you imagine how
the course of history might have changed if
Saddam Hussain had his hands on 10 or 20
nukes back during the gulf war? Frankly, the
only thing that surprises me is that there
has not been the military use of nuclear
weapons since 1945. I never would have
thought we would make it out of this Century
without more cities being obliterated for
some reason or another.
