Freewest Acquires Additional Claims Near Nuinsco's
Discovery in the Lac Rocher Area of Quebec

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Freewest Resources Canada Inc. is pleased to
announce that it has been granted the exclusive right to stake an
area of approximately 1000 ha (62 claims) by the Ministry of
Natural Resources of Quebec. The area lies within the limits of a
territory reserved for hydro-electric generation. Freewest is
free to carry out mineral exploration and exploitation on the
claims subject to certain conditions stipulated by Hydro-Quebec.

The claims adjoin the west boundary of Nuinsco Resources Ltd.?s
Lac Rocher property over a distance of approximately 5 km. On
January 21, 1999, Nuinsco reported a drill intersection of 61.5
meters (201.7 feet) of disseminated to massive sulphides with an
average grade of 1.69 percent nickel and 0.49 percent copper
including a 3.2 meter (10.5 feet) massive sulphide interval of
10.8 percent nickel located near the bottom of the hole. The
Nuinsco discovery is related to a gabbro-norite intrusion marked
by an isolated magnetic anomaly. On the new Freewest claims, no
less than three similar magnetic anomalies are identified by MRNQ
airborne geophysical data as well as a large number of INPUT
electromagnetic anomalies.

In addition to this exciting new acquisition, Freewest has
expanded a 27 claim block held 50 percent with NDT Ventures Ltd.
(NDE:VSE) to 40 claims (624 ha). Also, Freewest and its partner
Prospectors Alliance Corp. (PALL:CDN) have resolved the issues
surrounding the area under contention with Falconbridge Limited
and Doner Minerals Ltd. in the Lac Rocher area. Some additional
staking brings the Freewest-Prospectors Alliance property to 60
claims.

Freewest now holds various interests in six properties consisting
of a total of 311 claims (4952 ha) in close proximity to Nuinsco?s
Lac Rocher project. Freewest is looking forward to exploring
these properties with its joint venture partners and has already
completed a detailed compilation of the geophysical and geological
data available for the Lac Rocher region.
