Have been using Quicken for 5 years and as of late quicken 99 and noticed a bug when posting short sales. Prior to Quicken 99 I never made a short sale, so do not know if condition exists in prior releases. Quicken 99 shows both short sales and buyback as debit from total proceeds and therefore the Capital Gains report for tax purposes does not agree with 1099b furnished by broker at year end and shows less proceeds. Would be a trigger for an audit if not corrected. Can be corrected by reversing sell and buy dates, but is cumbersome and not correct record keeping. Very worrisome for a program that claims to be the best financial program around. WARNING!! IF YOU IMPORT THE CAP GAINS INTO TURBO TAX..YOU WILL HAVE AN INCORRECT RETURN. Does anybody use Money 99 and does it post short sales correctly for reports, so that proceeds from sales are correct. It is still early enough in the tax year to post the data into a new program tha can handle short sales correctly. Thanks
