Soup:

Currently APPLE is not doing very well in India. By far, the intel based IBM machines and the Windows 95/NT OS are the most popular there.

With the introduction of the Devnagiri Script (for Hindi & Sanskrit) and other scripts for local languages, this could change.

However, the developers in India will write for Mac only if there is a demand for such software. The Next machines do bring in a cross-platform nature to the software, but just like anywhere else, it is too early to determine how easily developers will take to it.

India is a huge market but people still haven't become aware of the Mac because of its late entry to the market. But what happens there is sure going to be exciting and would require a lot of effort.

Another big area is the Indian Film Market. The power of the digital technology still hasn't been explored fully there- they still go out to develop the special effects. I am not sure how well APPLE will fit in there, although I can see a good market for SGI/Alias stuff.

Also, the advertising companies did not do very well the previous year, maybe this year it will reverse and APPLE will be able to cash in on the turnaround.

Now that APPLE has an eye on India, hope it does well there.
