TSI TelSys delivers four Panther systems

TSI TelSys Corp TSI

Tue 16 Mar 99 News Release
Mr. Timothy O'Connor reports
The $1.6-million (U.S.) delivery of four Panther telemetry systems will be
deployed at NASA's Wallops Island, Virginia and Poker Flats, Alaska
facilities.
The systems will link the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite II (ADEOS II)
to terrestrial computer networks.
The rack-mounted Panther systems perform real time frame synchronization,
CCSDS service processing and Level Zero Processing (LZP) on one 60 million
bits per second (mbps) channel and one six mbps channel. They include 50
gigabyte RAIDs for data storage, 100 Base-T network interfaces and can
simulate telemetry data for use in testing ground station equipment.
ADEOS II is a joint program between NASA, the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Japan's National Space Development
Agency (NASDA). ADEOS II data will be used to study climate conditions such
as global warming and to forecast global weather patterns.
The VME-based Panther telemetry system acquires and simulates multichannel
TDM and CCSDS encoded telemetry data at rates up to 300 mbps. The modular,
commercial-off-the-shelf Panther system can be configured to meet any
remote sensing program's unique data acquisition or simulation
requirements. A single, multiprotocol Panther is capable of supporting
multiple satellites, each with a unique protocol. TSI TelSys provides
similar functionality in the company's 160 mbps Jaguar and 20 mbps Viper
PCI-based systems.
