It is so strange. When I was in college, Springsteen had his breakthrough with "Born to Run", and Joel with "The Stranger", and now they are in the Hall of Fame...By the way, an alumnus of my college started Atlantic Records, and is the major donor to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His name is Ahmet Ertegun, and he is probably the most influential person of Turkish descent in the country. His father was the Ambassador of Turkey in the 40's, and sent Ahmet to St. John's for college. Ahmet loved R&B, and started a small label over his father's objections. When rock'n'roll came along, he became rich. Another St. John's alum founded Elektra/Asylum, weirdly enough.
