A "systems on a chip" (SOC) type solution is the future of this industry. The Lucent (Veridicon) solution will be refined and will likely take considerable market share. This is also the approach that others in the industry must take if they want to play in the high volume market. Hybrid circuit approaches will inevitably prove too costly.
