Interview with Peter Henricsson.

The Swedish investment newsletters Aktienytt and BörsInsikt have recently carried an interview with Peter Henricsson, CEO and chairman of Technor International. As I have already pointed out, the persons behind these two newsletters both own shares in the company. Mr Jonnerhag of BörsInsikt is even on the board of Technor. So the information should perhaps be looked upon with a fair amount of scepticism.

Anyhow, some interesting points from the interview:

AU-system were showing the positioning system in an application which could be called "The Yellow Pages for Mobile Phones". This actually works already with Generation 2+ GSM mobile phones. The phones were manufactured by Motorola.

Three of four partners for delivering "content" were present at the fair. (remark: I have no idea who they could be). Four of the five largest operators with whom the "discussions" are most advanced participated. (remark: Identity unknown).

Three participants were showing the positioning system:
1. AU-system.
2. Northstream (a consultant).
3. Signalsoft (together with Compaq!) (remark: I have really no idea why Compaq should be involved. Signalsoft seems to be heavily into the business though, linking contents to phones. Check out their web-site).

According to the interview, Technor have been speaking with Signalsoft for four month. This company are supposed to be well-known in the US and have recently opened an office in Europe. They are going to use the CellPoint system for positioning.

The mobile phone operators are normally not interested in developing and implementing applications on their own. They want to be able to be able to purchase this from "content-providers". Technor is thus depending on companies like Signalsoft to provide applications which utilize its positioning technology.
