The compression format is a moot point for us.

SanDisk will continue to provide the removable memory solution of choice, regardless of the type or format of the data.

There is a grass roots movement that is fueling the mp3 craze. I would even hazard to say that that there is a cult following. Software for ripping and condensing music CD's is easily obtainable, inexpensive or free and extremely easy to use. mp3 fidelity is excellent, actually outstanding, and particularly well suited for mobile applications. I have MusicMatch Jukebox on my PC and a Pontis mp3 player. People who have listened think it is unbelievable.

Those touting new standards (with copywriting protection to prevent duplication) will not be received warmly. I think it is really a control issue.

mp3 is a runaway train. Don't jump in the way or you may get run over.
