hello shalom, I read your post with interest and understand the indignation at some remarks made concerning Jesus our Lord. Certainly the devil and his hoard are the enemy and they are up to evil things and we know that without thinking. But what about those people that are deceived by him. And what about those who acknowledge Him at some level but are not transformed and may have a very poor understanding of the kingdom of God. These are not the same enemy as the devil, are they? I can't help but to wonder at Jesus, on the cross, saying "forgive them, for they know not what they do". When He was being beaten and spit on, mocked and scourged He didn't seek revenge or His own interest. He was concerned for the well being of those who were doing those things to Him. Is He also concerned for the well being of those who insult Him today? I think He is keenly interested in just that. His character is unassailable. He is Holy and Pure. I see Him as He is described in The Revelation of John. Victorious. It is the one's who insult who are perishing. Should we go the extra mile? I think we should. It's not yet the time for anger as difficult as that can be. But it will be, maybe soon.
Rev. 11-21
"And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He wages war." ............and all the verses to 21 describe the coming judgement. |
