BIOMETRIC BREAKING NEWS
March 16, 1999
Arlington, VA - NEC Technologies, Inc., a provider of finger imaging technology, has been awarded a modification to its current U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule contract to include the company's biometric technologies. The amendment allows NEC's Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) division to make its finger imaging solutions readily available to federal and state agencies through December 18, 2002. Included in the modification is TouchPass™, NEC's network access control system, and the LS21™ Live-scan workstation for law enforcement fingerprint identification. NEC's TouchPass system replaces the common network access tool, the password, with a representation of the user's finger image. The system secures LAN, WAN and dial-up network connections, utilizing a special Windows NT graphical identification and authentication module that employs finger imaging to validate network log-ons. NEC's GSA contract number is GS-35F-4696H, and all products are available on the GSA Advantage online purchasing Web Site fss.gsa.gov . Since its initial installation nearly 30 years ago, NEC has tailored its finger imaging technology to meet the identification requirements of such markets as healthcare, licensing, welfare and security. Today, NEC's biometric identification technology is being used in over 300 installations in 14 countries. nectech.com *****Might want to check this URL out*****
