It is the messenger who should be concerned whether his tie is straight and whether his appearance might be hindering his communication efforts, not the recipient of said message.

A crooked tie is one thing; a ring in his nose, black leather pants, and chains that he brandishes threateningly as he gives the message in a nasty tone is another thing altogether. And Chris-trust me on this one-- you need to take a Dale Carnegie course.
