Stitch, Z Analyzer:

The upgrade to Preferred Edition 3.0 was sent to me in the mail and brings it to version 3.5. Maybe they sent it out to 3.0 owners before putting it up for general sale? I'm trying to not let my enthusiasm for the new product cloud my stock-picking judgement but the more I dwell on it the more I'm convinced, on balance, Dragon is the way to go.

Z.A: What version of Via Voice are you using? I haven't had much time to explore the new Dragon fully (busy all day replacing a fried power supply) but Dragon has all the basic commands available for navigation via the pull down menus and it deals with buttons on toolbars via their keyboard shortcuts. Not the most intuitive way of doing it, but with Don Gates sitting there I guess that's as much as can be expected till AOL/Netscape ups the ante. One feature in Conversa's voice browser which I would like to see and didn't find (at first glance) is a voice "map" of all the links in a page being viewed. That was a useful feature (bar the wake-the-dead shouting you had to do to make it work) in Conversa.

OT

Stitch: Thanks for the mp3 info. I have MusicMatch. Nice, nifty thing. I'm dealing with the guilt of abandoning WinAmp. <G> I downloaded RealAudio song by a woman called Deni Bonet "You're Phat, Stoopid and Totally Def, and I love you" which I thought would be cool to have on my answering machine (tired of the current Prisoner snippet) but needed to edit it, get some frequencies out (and maybe splice in "we're young, you're beautiful, your daddy's rich and so are his wives"). Long and short of it - CDNow and Amazon is all very well but if you're trying to do anything other than listen to the stuff you have to deal with more than one piece of software, each with a bunch of limitatitions. One step beyond burning your own compilations - an all-in-one home DJ thingie, an account at DocExpress and ..... you get the picture....

Btw, what's your take on DocSpace? Fat pipes, application streaming and DocSpace vis-a-vis the retail drive market? Is there a need for a drive on the desktop in that kind of scenario? Just some loud thinking....

good luck,
mano
