Montreal is to take over the equity index futures after they are automated. Why would they allow Toronto to automate these products when they have a working arrangement to trade electronically on the Paris NSC-VF platform (the BAX is already listed after hours on this system). Toronto has proposed to automate using the OM (Swedish) system. No mention is made of the rights and trading privileges of members of the TFE (Toronto Futures Exchange). I am waiting to see what is proposed and what if any compensation is accorded to long suffering TFE seatholders. Once again the TSE has acted unilaterally in this matter. If anyone has knowledge of further details of this arrangement, please post them.
Regarding traders -- you presumably can live anywhere if you have access to the electronic book.
