<Are you using the motherboard for a space heater?>

I remember space heaters. I used to have one underneath my desk before I got my NT Pentium Pro box.

As for the motherboard, well, nothing's plugged into it now, obviously. I'm just saying that there's an awful amount of work being poured into a "dead" technology like Merced.

It's really strange to see that The Register, just a few weeks after publishing photos of the Merced cartridge, would then publish an article quoting someone who thinks Merced is DOA.

By the way, the motherboard itself isn't very big, so I don't think it could serve as a space heater even if we wanted it to. Considering that the Merced processor also looks more like "Socket M" instead of the vertical Slot M, the volume of a typical Merced server shouldn't be that huge, either.

I'm not going to do any testing on a real system, but many of my coworkers will. In fact are getting ready for it as we speak. I guess we'll all find out soon enough when Merced reaches tapeout.
