What was Paul looking forward to?
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory," (2 Cor 4:17 NKJV) "while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Cor 4:18 NKJV)
I am reminded of a story I heard recently, it goes like this, "There was a young lady who adored her husband. He, unfortunately had to go into the army during WW11, but he left with her a very large picture of himself before being shipped over seas. She would lovingly show this to people and say, "Isn't he handsome?" This became a compelling practice with her as she loved and missed him very much. One day she received notice that he was coming home, and would arrive in California. She packed and headed that way but she did not take the picture. Happy to say, their reunion was a joyful one. What's the point? Simply this, when you have the original, you don't need the copy.
