Let's be clear

Microsoft is storing any hardware ID Number (such as the network adapter ID and now the CPU ID)) it can get its hands on to identify the computer using its OS. This is a commercial use of the Intel ID.

But the political use of the Intel ID has nothing to do with Microsoft and everything to do with Intel.

Totalitarian governments will use that ID to identify the person owning the computer. They will then track down opinions they do not like and punish those expressing those opinions.

Most countries do not have a Bill of Rights and even parts of the US including New York City do not respect your constitutional rights if you happen to be black. (One guy got a broomstick up his arse and another guy got 41 bullets.)

Intel is helping to make the police states of the world happy. I can't wait for the day when one of you Intel bigots travels to someplace in the world where when you check into your hotel they make you "register" your PC.

So start to use that head on you shoulders for something other than MHz.
