Dorado Wins One in Infringement Suit Business Editors
BROOMFIELD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10,
1999--Sytron, Inc. and Dorado Systems Corporation
announced today a first-round victory in HID
Corporation's patent infringement suit against the two
companies. Dorado's newest access control product, the
Universal Reader(TM), can read the proximity cards of
other suppliers, as well as those of Dorado, and can also
read magnetic stripe cards. This unique reader is the only
product in the access control market with this
multi-platform ability. The Universal Reader(TM) provides
customers with more options for system upgrade, expansion
and replacement, opening the market to greater
competition. HID had originally alleged that Dorado's
reader infringed two of HID's patents. HID has now
petitioned the court for permission to withdraw its
allegations concerning one of the patents from the action
We are pleased to have at least some of the obstacles to
open competition in the access control market removed,
said Sytron President, Rob Howard. We compete on the
widely recognized strength of our technology and customer
service. Dorado is proud of its unique technical achievement
with the Universal Reader(TM), said Howard. It's easy
to accuse others of infringement. HID is finding that it's
harder to prove these allegations in court. We offer the
best products and service, claimed Brian FitzGerrell,
Sytron's Vice President of Marketing, and we stand
behind the Universal Reader(TM) with a lifetime warranty.
The enthusiastic response, particularly from HID
distributors, to the Universal Reader(TM) at recent trade
shows supports our belief that HID's customers are looking
for a higher quality alternative. --30--djm/dx*
