Hi Pigboy! On the evolutionary ladder, of communications convergence with computing, the chart seems to be favoring SANs/Fibre Channel as the superior and more intelligent breed of network that can move those heavy chunks of data. All of the real "WorkHorse" networks seem to know it and incorporate it. When these "Industrial Strength" networks get a little cheaper and more interoperable they should start blowing away the light weight LANs. It seems like just a few more things need to fall in place for it to really pick up steam and reach that critical mass that some of us have been waiting for. It would be nice to hear CISCO declare that SANs will be the next big thing. It seems to me that the ultimate network would use Fibre Channel, IP, WDM, DWDM and turn the Internet and Phone Networks into one big SAN that handles voice, video and data.

Regards,
Joe
