Re: M_Systems "Millenium Disk-on-Chip" This is odd. It seems that M-Systems has come up with a new disk interface and put it in front of flash. Hmmm... Yes SNDK already has this. SanDisk uses the industry standard ATA interface, which is what Microsoft uses in all of its operating systems. But wait, being Microsoft compatible IS THE WHLOE IDEA!!! So now system OEMs will need to come up with a new interface driver to handle the "Millenium Disk-on-Chip". Hmmm... Seems like it would be better to just use M-Systems' regular flash and use the driver that doesn't need a controller on the memory. This was the big selling point from M-Systems. Remember Jerome was saying this originally. We stole him from the FLSHF tread. I see this as interesting and certainly not a threat. Lexar (CF), Smart Media (other format), and Hitachi(IC maker) are the big threats. Did I miss anything? Other thoughts? Rex ($37)
