re >>Having accounts at several of the major online brokers, I have found that Ameritrade has the highest frequency of system problems.<<

I opened an account with ameritrade about two weeks ago. The called me ten days ago and said they received my 10K check to open the account and that the pin number and user id would follow in the mail.

Two weeks, nothing!! I send an e-mail. Three days later they respond and tell me they will send id and password approximately 5 days after receiving my application.

I sent it with the check!!!! I think this outfit opens mail takes money out and throws the rest away. I canceled via e-mail as I don't want or need poor service. I am desparately seeking better service than I am getting from Chuck Schwab.

I've never shorted a stock, but this one is tempting me.

Regards,

Greg

PS: The part about never shorting a stock is legalistic as Charles Schwab put me in a short position without me instructing them to. Closed it the next day after they told me I was responsible for their mistake. (Never mind that I made about a thousand bucks on the deal).
