Ancor Switch Enables nStor SAN Solution; nStor Selects GigWorks(TM) Fibre Channel Switches to Meet More Demanding Data Storage Needs

MINNEAPOLIS, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ancor Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCR) announced today that nStor(TM) Corporation Inc., a leading manufacturer of RAID and information storage solutions, will be integrating Ancor's GigWorks MKII Fibre Channel switches into their complete storage-area network (SAN) solution. The new switch means nStor can deliver storage network solutions for larger customers based on industry standards that will scale without compromising fast access or reliability.

"nStor's long-term commitment has been to deliver a complete storage solution using Fibre Channel that would range from JBODs to SANs," said Lawrence F. Steffann, nStor's president and chief executive. "With our Fibre Channel enclosures, AdaptiveRAID(R) and AdminiStor(R) management software we offer ease-of-use and flexibility for all Fibre Channel solutions, but until now we didn't offer the power of a switched SAN. This strategic relationship with Ancor allows nStor to continue its long-term fibre channel strategy and maintain our technology leadership role in this market."

"Adopters of switched storage-area networks will get the best price, the best performance, and the best data security from Ancor switches, period," said Ken Hendrickson, chief executive officer, Ancor. "We're looking for partners with track records of successfully serving the data storage needs of leading-edge organizations, and nStor has done that with Monsanto, Union Pacific, Prudential Insurance, and many others."

Ancor's GigWorks MKII Fibre Channel switches break the traditional 128- device barrier for storage-area networks, supporting SANs of virtually unlimited size with added public loop support. In addition, only Ancor switches support cross-connected configurations that provide a more fault- tolerant and scalable alternative to cascaded switches. Ancor switches are uniquely positioned to serve the needs of cost-effective Windows NT SANs all the way up to enterprise data center solutions.
