WCAP is a venture-capital firm. Earnings (with or without one-time charges/gains) and PE ratios are almost irrelevant. Companies like WCAP are valued based on what their underlying assets are worth.

CMGI, though in a similar area, is somewhat different. It is the 100% owner of several internet companies - some of them will turn out to be billion dollar companies. Being a leader, it has been hyped up a lot and trades accordingly.

Regards.
