poker scenario for remainder of 1999:

1. lcos puts out proxy vote on usa merger which dw of cmgi says he has the votes to defeat.

2. merger is killed as dw predicts.

3. usa termination agreement to buy shares of lcos at 127 or something like that comes into play... lcos share price rises on rumor/news

4. new suitor announced by cmgi at higher premium than usa offer, but not as inflated as athm's bid for xcit (now in jeopardy partly because of lcos acceptance of usa's lowball bid) or usa termination offer share price option.

5. athm/xcit deal breaks down; usa declines option paving way for new suitor acquisition. lcos share price drops to new offer premium.

6. ripple effect modifies all portal stock values downward from previous highs thereby reducing bubble valuations to healthy levels which are sustainable.

7. aol moves to dow index replacing hp; yhoo or some other inet behemoth replaces aol on s&p 500; conventional analysts wake up to inet stocks, putting further constraints on inet stock valuations and tempering further violatility.

comments anyone????
