More commentary on futures selling when the Dow hit 10k yesterday:

Yesterday's action confirmed this -- a move to 10,000 that was met by heavy selling in the futures market. After that, the people who trade stock-index futures are not going to bid them up enough to crack the benchmark. Ultimately, of course, it is not stock futures, but stocks that matter. Still, with futures traders looking at 10,000 as a sell level, the market will need a good deal of momentum to breach the barrier.
