Otter,

I've seen that pattern with other stocks at various times. I've always interpreted it as either/both

1. A sign of accumulation or selling off a position depending on whether its the bid or ask. As soon as the 10,800 gets filled, then another 10,800 appears, and another, all day long.

I've seen the same thing with PAIR and FORE before. Why an odd number who knows? Maybe there is a standing 10,000 plus 8 others with a standing 100?.

2. The odd number, (10,800 in this case) is a signal among the MM about something. On PAIR one day I saw a number like 9900 all day long buying and the price went no where. But the 9900 must have been bought 200 times over that particular day. Maybe 2 market makers pumping the volume and trading a net of 0 between themselves? Hows that for a conspiracy theory?

In the case of VLSI I would think #1.
